Gina Lagos Batarce, Author
Born in Viña del Mar, Chile. She is a midwife by profession, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Obstetrics and Childcare from the University of Concepción, Chile, a Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Bío-Bío, and a Master’s degree in Digital Animation from the University of Salamanca, Spain. She also has a Diploma in University Teaching for Health professionals, a Diploma in Quality management in healthcare, a Diploma in Comprehensive Adolescent Development and Health, among others. She has over 15 years of experience in various areas of health and education. At the beginning of her career, she worked as a clinical midwife, assuming different responsibilities associated with her position, including leading the women’s program, the adolescent and youth program, the HIV/AIDS and STI program, and the ChCC biopsychosocial development support program.
During this period, she also served as the coordinator of community-based peripheral health services. She participates in various community and regional working groups, leads and develops projects, and conducts educational workshops in communities. At the regional level, she has managed programs for the Chilean Ministry of Health, including the Comprehensive Adolescent and Youth Health Program and its Youth-Friendly/Differentiated Spaces, the Women’s Health/Sexual and Reproductive Health Program, the Fertility Regulation Program, the Breast Cancer Prevention Program, the Menopause Program, and the Diagnostic Imaging Program for Primary Health Care. She develops and leads regional pilot programs and projects for adolescent health promotion, leads intersectoral and multidisciplinary working groups, develops training programs for physicians and health professionals, and serves on the regional committee for maternal, perinatal, and infant mortality audits. She supports the coordination of Obstetrics and Gynecology Services in high- and medium-complexity hospitals, maternity wards in low-complexity hospitals, the low-complexity Infertility Clinic, and the Breast Pathology Unit. She leads the Strategic Planning and Evaluation and Monitoring Programs for Regional Health Programs. As an academic, she assumes responsibilities as a course coordinator and for accreditation of higher education quality, and serves as a theoretical and clinical instructor in the Midwifery program. As a digital animator and 3D generalist, she is proficient in the pre-production, production (modeling, rigging, texturing, lighting, animation, rendering) and post-production phases, developing a series of digital models, works and projects related to health and biological sciences. She currently researches emerging technologies such as AI and Virtual Reality in healthcare, as well as gamification methodologies. She creates digital productions and develops and teaches courses and masterclasses. She lives in Chillán and La Serena, Chile. In addition to her work, she enjoys natural landscapes and photography.
